The OCIA team at St. Bonaventure invites you to enroll in the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) program, formerly the RCIA program. The program starts Tuesday September 24, 2024 and concludes at the end of April 2025.
Why did it change from Rite to Order?
Several years ago (2021), the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops approved a new translation of the process and its corresponding curriculum, now known as the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). The decision to change the name stems from the idea that the Catholic journey is continual.
Who Should Enroll?
1. Baptized Catholics who have not yet received Holy Communion or Confirmation.
2. Baptized non-Catholic Christians who wish to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church.
3. Individuals without a denomination who are interested in exploring and possibly joining the Catholic faith.
4. Practicing Catholics seeking a greater understanding of the essentials of our faith. This last group can benefit the team, other enrollees, and their own continual faith journey tremendously.
Program Highlights:
• Address personal questions and concerns about the Catholic faith.
• Prepare for and receive the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion.
• Gain the knowledge needed to teach and share the Catholic faith with your children.
• Support for those preparing for marriage within the church.
• Fellowship and build stronger relationships with fellow parishioners.
Embrace this opportunity to grow in faith and community, following in the footsteps of the early believers at Pentecost.
