About the event
The OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults) Rites of Welcoming and Acceptance are public, combined ceremonies that officially begin the formal process of becoming a Catholic. The Rite of Acceptance is for the unbaptized, who are publicly declared "catechumens" and express their intention to become a member of the Church. The Rite of Welcoming is for those who have already been baptized in another Christian church or are a baptized Catholic, and are ready to continue their formation towards Confirmation and Eucharist.
